Mae Ya WaterFall Most highest and beauty waterfall in Chiang Mai

Mae Ya Waterfall is located in the area of ​​Doi Inthanon National Park, but the waterfall is not in the Doi Inthanon tourist route. There is a junction from 1009 road (Chomthong-Inthanon) to the waterfall. This waterfall is known as one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Thailand. It is a large, beautiful and tallest waterfall among the waterfalls in Doi Inthanon National Park.


In the past, Mae Ya Waterfall It was once rated as the most beautiful waterfall in Thailand before the Thi Lo Su Waterfall was discovered in Tak Province. Mae Ya Waterfall originated from many streams including: Khun Lam Huai Mae Ya, Huai Luang, Huai Hom, Huai Pang Tong, etc. Which flows down to converge with the Mae Klang River and then flows into Chom Thong District to converge with the Ping River.

The waterfall will flow down the steep cliff about 280 meters, hitting the rocks in layers. It will spread like a curtain of water and flow down to gather in the basin below. Can swim safely, which is the point where tourists often come to swim.

During the rainy season, the waterfall is 100 meters wide and looks like a very large water curtain. Some parts of the cliff can escape the mist and see the white mist of the waterfall. During the summer the water volume may be less, but the waterfall is clearer than the rainy season. The area around Mae Ya Waterfall is a shady forest that is suitable for a vacation.

At the end of the waterfall is also the area where the Electricity Generating Authority has installed a hydroelectric power plant to bring water to generate electricity. The most special, tourists can pitch a tent at Mae Ya Waterfall as well. You can contact the park staff for permission to pitch a tent.

The best time to visit the waterfall
Late October-March during the rainy season may be closed to Mae Ya Waterfall in case of flash floods.

Waterfall entrance fee
- Thai people, adults 50 baht, children 20 baht
- Foreigners, adults 200 baht, children 100 baht
Note: If paying at the entrance to Doi Inthanon, there is no need to pay an additional entrance fee.

How to get to Mae Ya Waterfall
It is about 70 kilometers from Chiang Mai city, along Highway No. 108 (Chiang Mai-Hod) for about 58 kilometers. At the 58th kilometer main area before reaching Chom Thong District Market Turn right onto Highway No. 1009 (Chom Thong - Doi Inthanon) about 1 kilometer.  Then turn left for another 14 kilometers, you will reach the parking lot. and have to walk for about 500 meters to reach the destination (Follow the map below)

There is no bus to Mae Ya Waterfall.
